In 1891, Dr. James Naismith forever changed the world of sports, with two peach baskets and an dream. Blending retro basketball charm with modern diner food, Peaches by CourtSide is the perfect place for your next meal.
Charged with keeping his students active during the harsh New England winter, Naismith devised the groundbreaking indoor sport. Armed with a soccer ball and two peach baskets, Naismith penned 13 simple rules and divided his class of 18 into two teams.
The goal was straightforward: toss the ball into the fruit baskets nailed to the gym balcony. Each score paused the game while a janitor retrieved the ball—until someone cut the bottoms out, speeding up the action.
From here, Naismith sowed the seeds of modern basketball, setting the stage for a global phenomenon.
